This post is part of the Girl Mechanic of the Month series where we feature a real-life girl mechanic and some of her best work and let her tell us a bit more about her story.
Why, you ask?
Well, first, because girl mechanics are somewhat of a rarities and by that I don’t mean those cuties posing in short shorts in front of a friend’s Integra and tagging the picture with #girlmechanics on her Instagram! I mean REAL girl mechanics, working on REAL cars, getting dirty with REAL grease. And every time I come across a real girl mechanic like that I just want to show her to the world to prove everybody that they really exist.
So, our website seemed to me the perfect place to do that!
Also, being a car mechanic myself, I always thought it would be great to have more girls around. It’s always a guy thing. You work with guys, ride with guys, talk with guys, race against other guys, guys jokes and such. It sure lacks a bit of a feminine touch sometimes. And, sorry, car show girls just don’t make the cut!
And finally, I have to admit it, who doesn’t like a cute girl in a mechanic suit? 😉
This month’s gal comes from Russia and she’s not exactly your regular girl mechanic. Working in an auto body repair shop where she showcase a talent many of us wish we could master as well as she does: airbrushing! I totally fell for her style and the artwork she creates and I bet you will too.
So, without any further ado, let me present to you the featured girl mechanic of the month:

MD – First things first, what’s your name?
NK – Natali Koledova.
MD – And how old are you?
NK – 25 years old.
MD – Where do you live?
NK – Penza, Russia.
MD – How did you learn the trade?
NK – I started airbrushing 2 years ago. I started to work for Автолак сервис, where I work now. Little by little, I started to do all the work myself. Now I can prepare the surface to be painted, paint and airbrush.
MD – Where do you work?
NK – I’m an airbrush artist and I work at Автолак сервис, an auto repair shop.
MD – What kind of car do you drive?
NK – Kia Cerato Coup. My car is red beauty coupe. I chose it because it is beautiful and kinda saucy. I think it is perfect for an energetic 25 years-old girl. I can also drive a motorcycle and I own a Gilera DNA 180.
MD – Most importantly, do you drive stick?
NK – Yes
MD – American, Japanese or European?
NK – I really like the old American cars but I also like the quirkiness of Japanese cars.
MD – Do you have some kind of side project?
What are you working on as a hobby?
Tell us a bit about it.
NK – I do styling of retro scooter because I really like retro style. You can find it at #soretroproject.
MD – What is your dream car?
NK – Having a few different cars is my dream. Fiat 500, Mazda mx-5, Dodge challenger. Of course, I do not want a car of new generation.
It’s funny because I have chosen one European, one American and one Japanese car. The point is that I really love all kinds of unusual and interesting cars.
MD – What do you like most about the job?
NK – Creation. I like that I don’t sit in a boring office.
MD – What do you hate most about the job?
NK – Sometimes, it can be very hard for me. And I hate when people say that this job is not for women.
MD – If you had one advice for beginner auto mechanics, what would it be?
NK – You should really love your job. Only then will you be a good technician.
MD – If you could trade places with any other person for a week, famous or not, living or dead, real or fictional, with whom would it be?
NK – I think it would be my muse Kat von D.
MD – If you won $20 million in the lottery, what would you do with the money?
NK – First of all, I’d help my friends. Next, maybe I will travel and start my own business.
